The Night Owl
I remember the early morning. The sunrises and the sun in my eyes. Everything was very bright and I felt like I had a whole day, lots of time.
Being a musician changes what you see. I linger in the darkest hours of the night packing up and waiting for paychecks. I watch the drunkards stumble out as the bar begins to turn out its open lights.
I wouldn’t be surprised to be awake when 3 am rolls around.
Driving long distances just to get to bed. Eating breath mints and blasting my music just to keep my eyes open.
Once I fall into a deep sleep I stay there for hours. When I wake, the sun has already had its sun-salutation and the tea is cold. I only have a few hours to get things done. I feel like I am always leaning forward in a chair. When can I just sit back and relax?
Well if I decided to wake up at 9:00am again I guess.
Becoming a musician requires one transformation. From Human to Owl. Sleep by day, wake by night.
Being an owl is lonely at times, unless you find friendships with other owls too. Which does end up happening. It is a different world in the dark. You stay inside, you lock your doors, you have to be quiet. Seems like a safer life anyway. Less traffic is always a plus.
I have made my full transformation from human to human night owl.
Let the adventures begin
